Ice Fishing
Watson LakeJanuary 2003 A cold day out on Watson Lake, a lake about an hour's drive from Soldotna. |
Juneau LakeFebruary 2004 Juneau Lake is located far back in the Kenai Mountains, the only way to get to it is by a day-long hike or by snowmachine in the winter. We tried our luck here a few years back and I caught a small snack-sized Rainbow Trout. |
Dolly Varden LakeDecember 2004 When we ice fished at Dolly Varden Lake, the lake lived up to its name and produced a couple Dolly Varden. I've caught bigger Dollies in this lake during the summer, but these were decent. |
Big LakeFebruary 2005 I tried fishing on Big Lake once and caught a nice Arctic Char (first picture). I brought Mike and Kevin here the weekend after and we didn't have any luck. However, Fred (another fisherman near us on the lake) caught a really nice one (second picture). |
Sport LakeFebruary 2007 Sport Lake is a small lake near Soldotna. I went where with Mike & Denali and Kevin & Dareena and we tried it out. It was a very slow day and I was the only one who caught anything, and it was a long wait before I caught it. |
Watson LakeFebruary 2007 Another fishing trip to Watson Lake. Mike was the only one who caught anything worth keeping, a nice Rainbow. |
